Norwegian Retailer Bans Violent Games Following Recent Attacks

We all know that violent games are the ones creating a new generation of blood thirsty serial murderers and sick maniacs; Right?  The results of the attack on Norway (you can read about it here) are of a nature in which retailers like Norway Coop has decided to ban 50 different video games and toys. Some of the video games in the list are:

Homefront
Counter Strike Source
World of Warcraft
Sniper Ghost Warrior
Call of Duty series

Add to the cake of overreacting retailers a cup of politicians looking for easy-pubic-image to look like the guys in shining armor that will stop violence forever in our society by banning anything they can't understand and some shady studies about how games generate criminals as the topping. As many people argue, it would be wise to ban action movies, horror films, styles of music and other things to restore our world back to the times of peace, like the Inquisition, Medieval Times and let the Samurais and Ninjas with Zombie Pirates come back too!

YOU AS A READER~ What is your position in all this? As a gamer, a family member, a parent.

Thinking that videogames cause people to be violent killers is absurd... pushing a button on a controller is a completely different experience from firing an actual gun.

Haha, World of Warcraft kind of stands out to the others for me. I think this is pretty dumb, I remember the first time I fired a gun and noticed how much different it was from pressing a button on my controller. It takes skill to use a gun or to fight, a skill you don't learn from video games.

perfectly understandable given the recent attack. those poor victims, I am so sorry this ever happened to such a beautiful country. :C

Smear campaigns for our beloved games will be around as long as they exist.

Just pathetic really, the only people stupid enough to be influenced by games enough to kill people are bound to do something like that eventually anyway

I don't believe that violent games cause real violence. Even if I'm wrong, Norwegians are going to obtain them from different sources.
Banning videogames is stupid.

If it helps Zombie pirates become real, then I'm for all the banning possible. :P

Before video games, it was comics before comics it was rock 'n roll. They will always try to find something to blame all the madness on. Its a shame that they have to be so narrow minded..

There needs to be a scapegoat for everything, doesn't there?

I really hate it when people blame it on violent video games. They should veto this ban

Agreed, the games aren't the problem.
